His first paper dealt with the intricacies of mechanical ventilation and a correlation between the intra-thoracic pressure and intra- abdominal pressure was established highlighting the ill effects of mechanical ventilation in patients with existing abdominal pathology. His other paper, presented by his postgraduate student, Dr. Shivani Agarwal, dealt with the simplified way of analyzing the biochemical status of a patient and also established Ringers lactate a better fluid especially when large volume of fluid has to be infused. Dr. Ahmed's research papers were greatly appreciated by the audience. The research would help to simplify the method of analysis in the daily clinical practice, decide on the type of fluid to be infused in a particular disease process and take necessary precautions to avoid complications during mechanical ventilation of a patient.
