Heartiest congratulations to Prof. (Dr) Abdul Majid, HOD Psychiatry, SKIMS Medical College Srinagar, on being conferred with the prestigious Prof. Shiv Gautam Oration Award at the 21st National Annual Conference of the Indian Association for Geriatric Mental Health (IAGMH-GERON 2025) in Lucknow.

This remarkable honour is a tribute to his exemplary services in Elderly Mental Health.
In his thought-provoking oration, “Empty Nest Syndrome: Recognised yet Understated & Understudied Phenomenon”, Prof. Majid shed light on the growing challenges of urbanisation, migration and nuclear family systems, while urging for culturally sensitive research and greater awareness.

Earlier this year, he was also bestowed with the State Award for Social Reform & Empowerment by the Government of J&K, reaffirming his stature as a visionary in both medicine and social change.

Prof. Majid — the son of the land of Alim, Adab & Aab – Bandipora — has once again brought glory to the Valley and pride to our hearts.
