A Danish businessman who had been trapped in traffic inside the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel that morning uploaded photographs he had taken during the evacuation. Among them was a powerful image showing Gary Box in full firefighting gear, walking through the gridlocked traffic toward the burning towers. While thousands fled in fear, Gary and countless other first responders moved in the opposite direction, determined to help those in need. Gary was later killed during the rescue effort, and his remains were never recovered.
