People often ask why I speak in English so much, or why I don’t “sound Tamil enough.”
But being Tamil isn’t measured by accent, language fluency, bloodline, or where you were born.
Some people are Tamil by birth.
Some of us are Tamil by love, by connection, by the way the culture lives inside our hearts. ❤️
I speak in English because that’s the language I’m most comfortable expressing myself in. It doesn’t make my love for Tamil culture any less real.
The music still moves me.
The emotions still feel like home.
The people, the warmth, the soul of it — all of it still belongs deeply in my heart.
Identity is more than language.
More than pronunciation.
More than what people expect you to look or sound like.
Tamil, for me, is not just something inherited.
It’s something loved.
People say they understand mental health.
They say they’re supportive.
And maybe they are… until our mental health starts affecting their comfort, their routine, their convenience.
Support is easy when we’re quiet.
When we’re “handling it well.”
When our pain is invisible and doesn’t interrupt anyone’s day.
But the moment we cancel plans, struggle to reply, cry too much, isolate, need reassurance, set boundaries, or simply stop performing happiness — suddenly empathy has conditions.
Real support means staying compassionate even when it becomes uncomfortable, inconvenient, repetitive, or hard to understand.
Because healing isn’t always neat.
And struggling people are not burdens for being human.
How are you today? Wait before you answer… are we masking the reply because we don’t want the other person to feel uncomfortable?? Please please be honest because you don’t know in which form help comes for us 🫂❤️
