As surprising as it sounds, today marks the celebration of India's most staple, easily-made, versatile and simple dish – Idli!
7 years ago, Mr. Eniyavan, a famous Idli caterer from Chennai made about 1328 varieties of Idli’s to commemorate this day. A bureaucrat then declared “The World Idli Day” on March 30th by repeatedly cutting a giant 44-kilogram Idli.
All for the love of Idli!

Have it with Chutney or Sambar, have it as your breakfast, snack, or light dinner, have it in all its varieties, and either way, Idli never fails!

Sakamma - The inspiring woman who stirred Bengaluru with her Coffee Pudi.

Sakamma was born in 1880 in Bidare, a village in the Tumkur district of Karnataka. As Sakamma was always keen to learn and had the zest for education, her parents sent her to school where she became one of the few girls to have passed the secondary school examination in Mysore Province. But life and circumstances unfolded in other ways leading her to marry at the age of 16 to a Coffee planter in Coorg due to her family’s financial struggles. To her misfortune, he passed away in two years and the responsibility of the coffee business was on her shoulder at a delicate age. She strode through the lows of life with absolute confidence, never giving up. Being a quick learner, Sakamma learned all the what-about of running a coffee estate and it soon started flourishing again. She came to Bengaluru in 1920 to expand her business and set up a coffee curing cm powdering unit near Bull Temple Road. Her name traveled throughout Bengaluru through word of mouth and a pioneer of entrepreneurship was born. Bengaluru rose to her Coffee Pudi and Coffee has never been the same again!
