π Railway Corridor Mapping in Restricted Zones β LiDAR SLAM Project Experience
Surveying active railway corridors is never simple. In many railway sections, drone surveys are restricted due to security and operational safety regulations, especially in red-zone infrastructure corridors.
Recently, our team successfully completed railway corridor LiDAR mapping projects in Eastern India, covering key sections in:
π Kharagpur, West Bengal
π Tatanagar (Adityapur region), Jharkhand
These are high-traffic railway corridors, where traditional aerial surveys were not permitted. To overcome these limitations, we deployed LiDAR SLAM mobile mapping technology to capture dense 3D point cloud data of the railway infrastructure.
Using this approach, we were able to efficiently document:
β’ Railway tracks and ballast profile
β’ Platforms and station infrastructure
β’ OHE poles and signals
β’ Bridges, culverts, and surrounding terrain
β’ Complete railway corridor right-of-way
The project was executed while meeting all railway operational and survey criteria, ensuring safe data capture within an active railway environment without disrupting train operations.
The resulting high-resolution LiDAR point cloud dataset provides valuable spatial information that can support:
β Railway DPR preparation
β Track doubling and corridor expansion projects
β Railway asset mapping and GIS integration
β Infrastructure planning and digital railway initiatives

We converted a commercial building laser scan into an as-built BIM model ready for MEP coordination in Chennai and Hyderabad. Our Scan-to-BIM workflow captured pipework, ducts, and conduits within specified accuracy tolerances (Β±10β25 mm), produced LOD 300β350 geometry, and delivered clash-aware models and precise as-built documentation. The result reduced on-site rework risk by enabling clash detection before installation and providing contractors and BIM consultants with reliable, coordination-ready deliverables.
