The Slow Death of Quality Education in the EdTech Era
​I am deeply concerned about the direction our education system is heading. We are witnessing a tragic paradox: experienced, world-class educators are being sidelined, while "edutainment" takes center stage.
​Today’s EdTech giants seem to have shifted their focus from student selection to profit margins. Here is the harsh reality we are facing:
​Cost-Cutting over Competence: Platforms are increasingly refusing to hire veteran teachers because they are "too expensive." Instead, they prefer hiring low-cost, mediocre staff who can simply read off a presentation.
​The Rise of the "Performer": We are entering an era of "teacher-influencers." If a teacher doesn't dance or perform stunts on camera, students often ignore them. Deep, conceptual learning is being sacrificed for 30-second dopamine hits.
​The Devaluation of Expertise: It is heartbreaking to see that when a legendary teacher starts their own platform, they struggle to find support. The same students who spend thousands on gadgets expect a year-long course for less than 100 rupees.
​If this trend continues, we will lose our "Real Teachers" forever. We will be left with a generation of students taught by "parrots" who know how to present, but not how to inspire or build foundations.
​Education is an investment, not a cheap commodity. It’s time we start valuing the masters of the craft before they disappear.
