Come to Praxis Technē’s Bangalore studio to train in the fundamentals of alternative and analog photography.

Train in the fundamentals of handling analog cameras and developing black and white film. Handle a wide range of analog equipment and experience the joy of working with your own hands. We will have you developing film at home to a high standard, with an understanding of both the technique and the context - historical and contemporary - of analog photography. And once you have learned to handle analog cameras and develop film with the basic workshop take things up a few notches with the Advanced Film Developing workshop which will teach you how to get the most out of Analog.

The Cyanotype printing / alternative photography workshop is a rigorous single day workshop which will set strong foundations for you to use Cyanotype effectively in your creative practice. We will consider emulsion making, paper coating, exposure and composition, processing principles for archival permanence. All of this will be done in the context of the artistic history and scientific principles of the medium. This will allow you to not only learn the methods considered (Cyanotype ) but also prepare you to learn more advanced techniques in the field.

Open to all and no prior experience necessary. All materials provided.

We are pleased to share visuals from our silver gelatin printing workshop (traditional black and white printing from film negatives) at Praxis Technē’s Bangalore studio on November 16, 2025 where we taught participants the art of analog black and white printing with a take that combined the history, art, science and technology behind the systems involved in analog printing.

In a single day participants learned to print on silver gelatin paper from traditional B&W film independently to a high standard.

Workshop: Cyanotype and Van Dyck Brown Printing

Come to Praxis Technē’s Bangalore studio for a rigorous and fun workshop in alternative photography. Learn two separate printing methods, Cyanotype giving a brilliant blue and Van Dyck giving a rich chocolate color on photosensitive emulsion that you make yourself and coat on paper. The workshop will cover the fundamentals as well as some advanced topics like archival processing and creative interpretation with materials.

Acquire both the artistic and the scientific foundations of alternative photography to become an independent practitioner. Experience the joy of working with your own hands, develop a unique signature and make your work stand out from the crowd.
