This World Disability Day, we celebrate the resilience and autonomy of individuals with disabilities. Through Kimayaโs Home, we highlight the importance of supported decision-making, bringing attention to the need for an inclusive world where every choice matters. The need for this discourse is crucial in challenging the assumption that reduced intellectual capacity equals a lack of understanding. Intellectual disability may limit certain abilities, but it doesn't erase the potential for growth, learning, and meaningful participation in decision-making.
This comic book is inspired by our study on legal guardianship for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), a collaboration between Pacta and Enable India, which weโll share with you soon.

๐๏ธโ๐จ๏ธ Pacta's Vision for Fair Work in the Platform Economy
At Pacta, we believe in a comprehensive approach to Fair Work that goes beyond just minimum standards. Our framework focuses on these key principles:
๐ฐ Fair Pay โ Ensuring all workers, no matter their classification, earn a decent income after work-related costs.
๐ฅ Fair Working Conditions โ Platforms must adopt proactive policies to protect the health and safety of workers.
๐ Fair Contracts โ Contracts should be clear, accessible, and free from clauses that exclude liability for the platform.
๐ Fair Management Practices โ Workers must have a voice, be able to appeal decisions, and benefit from transparent algorithms.
๐ฃ๏ธ Fair Representation โ Workers should have the right to organize and negotiate collectively, with platforms providing channels for worker voices to be heard.
In a rapidly growing gig economy, these principles are crucial to creating fairer, safer, and more sustainable work environments for all. ๐โจ

๐๏ธโ๐จ๏ธ Take a look at Pactaโs key recommendations from our recent webinar on addressing worker issues in the platform economy .
We look beyond solely legislative solutions and propose the following:
๐ผ Legislation for guaranteed base income & anti-competitive regulations
๐งโ๐ป Strengthening of algorithmic decisions & protection for worker data
๐ค Regulatory sandboxes for collective worker representation & solutions for dispersed workers
๐ฅ Provision of social security, health insurance, & paid leave through social security funds
๐ Effective grievance redressal mechanisms to ensure accountability
๐ก Promoting responsible investment for fair & equitable working conditions
By rethinking the current platform economy, we can build a better future for workers!
