"झगमग तारें, दो तारें, नौ तारें, सौं तारें
झगमग सारे, हर तारा है शरारा",
my heart was singing when I was capturing the milky way galaxy atop Nun Kun peak during 5 nights camping trip to Zanskar Valley last week. Let me share you guys our experience during the camping:
A summer Ladakh is long days and short nights. The light won't go down till 7'O clock in the night and day lights will be as bright by 4 to 4:30 in the morning. So, every evening (for me), to find a spot for my tripod and camera setup and focus on Nun Kun around 6'O clock in the evening, fire couple of test shots to see focus is right and sharp. Come back around 8-9 to check the night sky visible with milky way on it's way (;)), provided clouds don't play the spoil sport and no rains. Click couple of shots again to see everything with milky way capturing is fine and then go back to our tents, take a nap (and do any adjustments in your settings with camera and composition). An alarm to wake
up late night around 1'O clock to capture
the milky way 'vertical'. Vertical composition to capture as much as galaxy, yeah.. again, provided we don't have clouds or rain and blessed with beautiful, clear sky in the freezing cold and windy night!
This image is particularly shot at longest exposure my camera body supports i.e. 30"(Sec) at widest aperture(f/3.5) at 18mm (which is ~28mm on my cropped sensor) and vertical framing to capture as much as the galaxy. Feels good, isn't it? :D
