Marghoob Foundation Organises Literary Tribute, Mental Health Outreach in Banihal

BANIHAL: The Marghoob Foundation, in collaboration with Adbi Markaz Kamraz and Social Welfare Association of Banihal (SWAB), organised a day-long programme at Government Degree College Bankoot, Banihal, to honour the literary legacy of Professor Dr Marghoob Banihali and promote mental health awareness.

The first session paid tributes to Dr Banihali, a renowned Kashmiri poet, scholar and former Head of the Department of Kashmiri, University of Kashmir. Speakers highlighted his contribution to Kashmiri literature and remembered his literary works, including the Sahitya Akademi Award-winning Partavistan.

The second session focused on mental health outreach under the guidance of noted psychiatrist Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Margoob, who sensitised participants about mental health issues, trauma and the need to remove stigma associated with psychiatric care.

The programme witnessed participation of writers, scholars, students and members of the civil society, with organisers stating that the initiative aimed to combine literary heritage with community welfare.
