Over the past years western Rajasthan has rapidly emerged as the energy hub in the country with
availability of wide range of resources viz. Petroleum & Natural Gas, Wind, Solar & Coal.
Growth of energy sector in this region has increased demand for qualified engineers who can
solve today’s challenging problems.
In compliance with the implementation of the announcement made by the Hon'ble Chief Minister
to open a new Government Engineering College in Barmer in the year 2015, administrative
approval was given to open an engineering college in Barmer.
Engineering College Barmer came in existence from the session 2018-19 onwards in the
premises of Government Polytechnic College, Barmer.
Engineering College Barmer aims to develop industry focused technical professionals by
providing quality higher education so that they can contribute to nation building. Our dedicated
academic team & staff impart individual attention to students & emphasis on holistic
development to make the engineers of next generation. In the institute all students are
accommodated in its hostels with in-house dining; the campus also provides required amenities
for sports and other recreational facilities.
Located in Barmer, one of the Energy hubs in India, the institute reap the advantage of being in
the vicinity of petroleum refinery and its ancillary industries. Engineering College Barmer has
already signed MoUs with industries like Vedanta Ltd – Cairn Oil & Gas and JSW Energy
(Barmer) Ltd. through which under the knowledge sharing partnership to enhance institute-
industry relationship. It directly benefits the faculties and students as well as provides
opportunity in research drive in this area.
