Kanakiya House
An exercise in contemporary modernism, the idea is not just to apply ornament to the facade but also allow its constructional logic to generate an aesthetic.
A rigorous dialogue between solid and void, an assertive tectonic gesture with the pronounced cantilever of the upper volume. This overhang performs multiple functions: it provides solar shading, it declares structural ambition, and it produces a powerful interplay of compression and release.
Deep-set apertures, vertical slivers — are carved with an almost sculptural conviction, producing shadow reveals that animate the facade across the arc of the day. These recesses are not incidental; they are load-bearing elements of the visual argument, giving the white mass its relief and temporal depth.

Bold Geometrics & Clean Lines: The structure is a beautiful composition of crisp, white rectilinear forms. The interplay of solid and void creates a sculptural façade that is inherently modern.
Material Harmony: A refined palette of white plaster/stucco, grey stone/concrete accent panels, and rich Corten-steel screens. The warm, textural contrast of the screens against the stark white walls adds depth and visual warmth.
Indoor-Outdoor Connection: Expansive, floor-to-ceiling glass windows and sliding doors on the ground and first floors beautifully blur the line between the interior living spaces and the lush, curated outdoor areas and balconies. This connection is vital for a good living environment.
Privacy & Light Management: The use of vertical Corten-steel screens (brise-soleil) on the balconies and large openings is a thoughtful, functional detail. They offer privacy and shade without sacrificing natural light or air circulation, perfectly adapting the design to its environment.
Ground Floor Integration: The design skilfully integrates the vehicular access and parking into the structure while maintaining street presence and vertical connection.
