Sikhs and Jews have shared common threads of violence, unimaginable loss and fury. Here is my slightly opinionated perspective on the design of Khalsa Heritage Museum by the master architect

Could Moshe Safdie, a Jewish, interpret the Khalsa history in the narrative of Virasat-e-Khalsa the way he encapsulated the tragic past of Jews in the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem? Could a Sikh architect have done justice to the architectural tribute to the Sikh Khalsa history?

You cannot not know history, right?

We all are here because of a certain turn of events in times before we were born. So when we design, the culture, the heritage, the dominant trends and the legacy, all are playing equal roles in tandem with each other.

Architecture enables us to experience the culture dominant of the time in which it was designed, conceptualised and executed. Ain't it magical?

I wrote this article in my 4th year of B. Arch and got an 8.5 out of 10 by Prof. P. S. Chani, someone I idolised for his contemporary and modern perspectives.
