Since its establishment in 1999, the KG Hospital’s organ transplant unit has been a front-runner in the field. Now, the hospital has broken new grounds by successfully performing its first cadaver heart transplantation.

The life-saving procedure was performed on a 38-year old man from Gudalur. The heart was donated by a brain-dead victim in Government Medical College Hospital, Perundurai, Erode. The entire procedure started on the 4th of November and concluded on the 5th of November.

We are glad to announce that the heart is beating well post-operation and the recipient is under our KG hospital team’s close observation.
