CLOSED HIS EYES
He closed his eyes for good lying,
Friends and relatives copiously crying,
Numb, silent, family tearful stood,
A somber atmosphere disturbs mood, (1)
Memory flooded reminiscence stay,
His deeds of love, compassion dismay,
Selfless sacrifices helped the needy,
Purple Heart was pure never greedy, (2)
Monumental his service people felt,
Time swept everything lovers, melt,
The obituary written eloquently praised,
Anniversary people gathered raised, (3)
Stay after his departure his tributes,
Sang grateful humans his attributes,
Longing for family belonging prized,
Forgotten memories lives surprised, (4)
Consigned to flame mortal remains,
Still lives in the hearts of few he reclaims,
Flowers ornate photo frames on the wall,
Children, grandkids dwell ephemeral, (5)
Unknown to others he closed his eyes,
Years ago practiced mediation, wise,
Faith emotions attenuated approach,
Belief in the Almighty life in search, (6)
Sat quietly calmly for an hour in solitude,
Reaped heavenly peace lot multitude,
Begged for mercy to the Lord, promise,
May his soul merge with void precise, (7)
River discovers a path to the sea, automatic,
Lost its identity forthwith play dramatic,
Got the divine blessing of his soul minion,
Melted into the space his life to oblivion, (viii)
