Here's why: Heat is produced when electricity flows through resistance. Since air is a poor conductor of electricity and a good insulator, there's a lot of resistance. And so the air gets extremely hot when electricity or lightning passes through it!

According to the results of a research study by Pam Mueller and Daniel Oppenheimer, students who take notes by hand use different cognitive processes than those who type them out. Since writing is a slower process than typing, students take notes by listening, understanding and summarising the content, which not only engages the brain more but also leads to better retention of concepts! ✍️
