Though Mawsynram in Meghalaya is the wettest place on earth life there is not easy, Raincoats and umbrellas seem to serve no purpose. Electricity and phone connectivity is a large issue. There is hardly any agricultural activity in Mawsynram since the topsoil gets washed away. The season, which begins in May and goes on till October, is marked by how deafeningly loud the rains tend to be. They’ve had to cancel classes because there was simply no way for the students to even hear the lesson being taught.
Mawsynram can get up to 17,780 mm of rainfall every year.
