Announcement: National Program on Indian Standards, Codes and Regulations in Lighting 2026 (Delhi Edition)

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the National Standards Body of India under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, is pleased to invite you to the National Program on Indian Standards, Codes and Regulations in Lighting, being organized in collaboration with the Electric Lamp and Component Manufacturers Association (ELCOMA) and Netaji Subhas University of Technology Campus (NSUT). The program details are given below.

The program, titled:
“Illuminating the Future: A Comprehensive Workshop on Indian Standards, Codes and Regulations in Lighting”

is aimed at enhancing awareness, strengthening industry preparedness, and promoting responsible and quality-driven growth across India’s lighting sector. The workshop will provide in-depth insights into the latest standards, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements for lighting products and applications.

Key Highlights of the Workshop:
 Revised National Lighting Code of India (NLC) 2025
 Updated Codes of Practice for:
o Indoor Lighting (IS 3646)
o Public Road & Tunnel Lighting (IS 1944)
 Recently revised Indian Standards on:
o LED lamps, modules, luminaires, and drivers (safety & performance)

 Regulatory updates and compliance mechanisms:
o BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS)
o BEE Star Labelling for lighting products
o RoHS provisions under E-Waste Management Rules

Target Participants:

Manufacturers, government departments, policymakers, regulators, academicians, consultants, testing laboratories, consumer bodies, and other stakeholders of the lighting ecosystem.
