Nyaay Kala, held on the sidelines of Nyaay Sabha, brought some of India’s most significant constitutional judgments to life through art. Featuring original works by ten artists, mentored by the brilliant Justice (Retd.) Anjana Prakash, the exhibition reimagined landmark legal decisions as powerful visual narratives that centre the people behind them. From Kesavananda Bharati v. State of Kerala to Aruna Shanbaug v. Union of India, the artworks interpreted transformative judgments that have shaped India’s constitutional landscape.

By moving beyond the courtroom, these artworks made complex legal ideas more accessible and relatable, presenting constitutional judgments not only as legal milestones, but as living ideas that continue to shape our freedoms and our understanding of justice, equality, and accountability.

The exhibition was showcased at the India Habitat Centre on 14th and 15th March.

We are excited to introduce our refugee artists to you! For this post, MAP is honored to feature the exceptional work of a refugee calligrapher at our upcoming "Ipsh*ta: Desire for my Homeland: A Refugee Artisan Market and Exhibition."

Danyal Zaheer brings over a decade of traditional calligraphy training and cultural heritage to his contemporary practice. His work represents not only artistic mastery but also the preservation of cultural traditions that transcend borders and displacement. Each piece on display reflects the intersection of memory and hope - traditional techniques applied to contemporary themes of belonging, identity, and resilience. Through his art, visitors will experience the profound beauty that emerges when cultural heritage meets personal narrative.

The artist will be present at the market and exhibition to discuss his work and the cultural significance of calligraphy in his artistic practice.

Through this flea market and exhibition MAP seeks to present a rare opportunity for people to engage directly with artists whose work bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary refugee experience.

Don't miss the opportunity!

The scent of home rises from borrowed pots, defying distance and displacement. In unfamiliar kitchens, familiar spices become acts of resistance against erasure. Each recipe carried across borders is a desire for a homeland that cannot be taken away...

For refugees and forcibly displaced persons, cooking traditional meals represents far more than sustenance—it's the preservation of identity, culture, and hope. Stirring memories into meals, they rebuild their sense of self one dish at a time. The taste of tomorrow is seasoned with the courage to remember yesterday.

Join us for 'Ipsh*ta: Desire for My Homeland – A Refugee Artisan Market and Exhibition' to meet those that find different ways to keep home alive, and travel the world through your tastebuds!
