Germany has introduced a major travel update for Indian passport holders.
Effective 3 June 2026, Indians no longer need an Airport Transit Visa (ATV) when transiting through German airports on their way to another country.
This means fewer visa formalities, lower travel costs, and a smoother journey for students, professionals, and travellers using Germany as a transit hub.
However, this exemption applies only to airport transit. If you plan to leave the airport, enter Germany, or access the Schengen Area, the appropriate visa requirements will still apply.
