*POCSO Awareness Assembly*

To create awareness about child safety and protection, a special assembly on *POCSO Awareness* was conducted for the students of the *Middle Wing* at *DAV Public School, Ashok Vihar Phase IV, Delhi* on *9 July 2026*.

The aim of the assembly was to familiarize students with the *POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act)* and to help them understand the importance of personal safety, safe and unsafe touch, and safe and unsafe situations in their daily lives.

During the assembly, students were sensitized in simple and age-appropriate language about their right to safety, dignity, and protection. They were guided to identify situations that may make them feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or fearful. The concepts of *safe touch and unsafe touch* were explained clearly so that students could understand how to protect themselves and seek help whenever needed.

Special emphasis was laid on the importance of speaking up and immediately informing a trusted adult such as parents, teachers, school counsellors, or the Principal in case of any unsafe experience. Students were encouraged not to keep harmful secrets and were reminded that their safety is of utmost importance. The significance of *online safety* was also highlighted, and students were advised not to share personal information, photographs, or interact with strangers on digital platforms.

An important part of the assembly was the *pledge taken by the students*, wherein they solemnly promised to remain aware, alert, and responsible towards their own safety. They pledged to speak up against any form of abuse, to inform a trusted adult if they ever felt unsafe, and to support their friends in seeking help whenever required. The pledge reinforced the message that every child has the right to feel safe, respected, and protected at all times.

The assembly was informative, meaningful, and highly relevant. It played a significant role in spreading awareness about child protection and empowering students to stay vigilant, confident, and responsible in safeguarding themselves and others.
