Hi, I’ve been working on something close to my heart. 🪻

*Mind & Body Sanctuary* is a small space where I’ll be sharing gentle mind-body practices, reflections, and reminders to help us reconnect with ourselves amidst the noise of everyday life.

My deepest intention is to make mental health feel a little less lonely and to help us embrace our own struggles and each other’s, with more acceptance and compassion.

If these are the kind of reminders you’d like to carry with you through the week, I’d love to have you there. 🧡

🍀 PART 2: Let's interrupt the Anxiety cycle together

When your body starts feeling a little safer, your brain often follows.

That's why body-based practices can feel so different from simply trying to think positively or force yourself to calm down.

This gentle shoulder release isn't about "fixing" anxiety in 30 seconds. It's about giving your nervous system a small moment of safety and teaching your body that it doesn't have to stay braced all the time.

The more consistently you practise, the easier it becomes for your body to return to a calmer state.

Try it with me, SAVE it for later, and come back to it whenever you notice your shoulders creeping up or your body holding tension. 🧡

And if you haven't watched Part 1 yet, go back and watch it first—it explains *why* this works.

Why calming your mind doesn't always calm anxiety 🍀

If you've ever tried to think your way out of anxiety or told yourself to “just stop overthinking” and found that it didn't work, you're not alone.

Anxiety isn't just happening in your thoughts.

Your body and brain are constantly communicating with each other. When your muscles stay tense, your breathing becomes shallow, or your body remains on high alert, those signals can keep telling your brain that something isn't safe. The brain then responds by scanning for danger, creating even more anxious thoughts.

And the cycle keeps repeating.

The good news? There’s another way to interrupt it.

In Part 2, I'll show you a simple body-based practice that helps send a different message to your brain. 🌿

Therapy helps. Genuinely.
But sometimes, understanding your patterns isn't enough to change them.

These are 4 real clients. Different struggles. One thing in common — when we brought the body into the work, things finally shifted.

The path looks different for everyone. That's exactly why this is 1:1 work.

Anxiety doesn't just affect how you feel.

It affects how much of your life you get to fully be present for.

The trip you didn't go on.
The career move you kept postponing.
The conversations you couldn't enjoy because your mind was somewhere else.
The friendships that became harder to maintain because you were already exhausted.

And that's what makes it so frustrating.

Because you've probably already tried things.

Watched the videos.
Done the breathing exercises.
Maybe even gone to therapy.

So when anxiety is still there, it can start to feel like nothing will ever change.

But often, that's not because you've failed.

It's because anxiety isn't just happening in the mind.

Sometimes the body is still carrying fear, stress, or emotions that never got fully processed. And until that layer is addressed, life can continue feeling stuck despite your best efforts.

You deserve more than just getting through the day.

You deserve to feel present in your own life again. 🌿

Harsh*ta's Story (name changed) 🌿

When Harsh*ta first came in, they felt stuck.

Overthinking. Restlessness. Rumination. Their mind just wouldn't settle.

They had already tried PMR on their own before, but found it difficult to stay with. Their mind would quickly pull them away.

What we worked on wasn't just doing an exercise.

We focused on understanding what was keeping their nervous system stuck in that cycle of overwhelm, helping their body feel safer, and gradually rebuilding their ability to settle and stay present with themselves.

Guided somatic exercises like PMR became one of the tools within that process. And with guidance, things began to shift.

Their mind felt quieter. They found it easier to focus. And as their nervous system became less overwhelmed, taking action became easier too.

Around the same time, they got selected for a job they had been working towards. More importantly, they were able to show up for it consistently — without the restlessness and mental noise constantly getting in the way.

Sometimes what looks like a lack of motivation is actually an overwhelmed nervous system.

When the body starts feeling safer, the mind doesn't have to work so hard. And moving forward becomes possible again 🤍

Sometimes overthinking is not really about the thoughts themselves.

It’s what the mind starts doing when sitting with a feeling doesn’t feel safe anymore.

So the brain keeps analysing, replaying conversations, trying to prepare for every possibility.

Not because its a weakness.
But because somewhere along the way, staying in your head started feeling safer than fully feeling what was underneath.

And healing usually doesn’t happen by simply forcing the thoughts to stop.

The nervous system first needs repeated experiences of safety, steadiness and emotional support.

That’s why a safe therapeutic relationship can feel so healing. Over time, the body slowly begins learning:
“I don’t have to stay on alert all the time anymore. And mind feels safe to be in present.”

And gradually, with nervous system re-training, we begin building that same sense of safety within yourself too 🌿
