Second Lecture in ‘Climate Change and Net Zero’ Lecture Series on World Earth Day
The Climate Change Research Institute (CCRI) in association with the IICHE, NRC and IIC organized First lecture on National Science Day. Dr. (Mrs) Malti Goel President and Chief Executive, Climate Change Research Institute introduced the theme of the Lecture Series. The CCRI lecture series "Environment and Earth Care" began on 2014 is renamed "Climate Change and Net Zero". It is being held first time to highlight the importance of net zero with a goal of creating awareness about the scientific response to climate change threats facing the humanity. Changing environment and ecology due to climate change are impacting our food security, water supply, agriculture, energy, transportation, Infrastructure, human health, and sustainable growth. The lecture on ‘A Journey towards a Greener Tomorrow’ was delivered by Prof. Anil Verma, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Delhi on February 28th, 2024 at India International Center, Seminar Hall 1&2, Kamladevi Block, IIC, New Delhi, attended by the students from various schools and colleges in large number. Chief Guest, Prof. D.P. Agrawal, Former Chairman, UPSC, Founder Director IITM, Gwalior, delivered the Inaugural Address. He said we need to make decarbonisation as a mass movement in schools in a step towards net zero. He released Bulletin of Climate SAR, Vol. VIII, No. 1, January 2024 issue having the theme ’Climate Action for Net Zero. Students from Universal Public School, Lal Bahadur Shastri Smarak (JAVM) Sr. Sec. School, St Thomas Girls Sr. Sec School, Mandir Marg, and Birla Vidya Niketan from classes IX and XI. Students and teachers from Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences and Motilal Nehru College, Delhi University also participated. The lecture captivated attendees with insights into the realm of electric vehicles.

The Climate Change Research Institute (CCRI) in association with the IICHE, NRC and IIC organized Second lecture on Wold Earth Day having theme as Planet vs Plastics. Dr. (Mrs) Malti Goel President and Chief Executive, Climate Change Research Institute introduced the theme of the Lecture Series on ‘Climate Change and Net Zero’ and the importance of earth day. The lecture on ‘Plastics-A Sustainability Paradox’ was delivered by Mr Swapan Kumar, Secretary, Indian Centre for Plastics in the Environment (ICPE) on April 24th, 2024 at India International Center Annex, Lecture Hall 1, New Delhi, attended by the students from various schools and colleges in large number and other guests. The event began with a Scientific Quiz about Plastic Pollution participated by 37 students. The Quiz comprised of 35 questions in four sections. Chief Guest H.E. Mrs. May-Elin Stener, Ambassador, Royal Norwegian Embassy, graced the occasion. In her inaugural address she said in the context of world earth day theme, Norway’s plastic pollution and circular economy strategies have fruitfully resulted in the India-Norway Marine Pollution Initiative. The CCRI Book on ‘Climate Action and Hydrogen Economy: Technologies shaping the Energy Transition’ was released on this occasion. Certificates were given to all participating school/ college students.

Science Campaign by the Climate Change Research Institute
Dr. (Mrs) Malti Goel, President Climate Change Research Institute in association with the India International Centre and the Royal Society of Chemistry, organized World Earth Day 2023 Science Campaign and Activity Based Learning Workshop for School Teachers on April 24th – 25th, 2023 in the Seminar Hall 1, 2, 3 and the Lecture Hall – I. In total 40 School teachers and students from fourteen schools participated.

Dr (Mrs.) Malti Goel, President, Climate Change Research Institute (CCRI) cordinated the Awareness and Capacity Building workshop on Carbon Capture and Utilization plus Net-Zero Future.
