Respecting Our Elders — Because They Deserve Nothing Less!

On the occasion of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, the District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal (JAGRITI Unit) and She Hope Society for Women Entrepreneurs came together to spread an important message across our district.

A 3-day awareness campaign was held on 15th, 16th & 18th June 2026, covering:

Ganderbal
Block Lar
Block Kangan

The campaign focused on:
Rights of elderly citizens against abuse
Legal protections available to senior citizens
How elders can seek help and live with dignity

Our elders built this world for us. It is our responsibility to protect them, respect them, and make sure they know their rights.

Respect. Protect. Empower Seniors

Urgent Appeal for Oxygen Support

A senior citizen residing at Senior Citizens Home, Wayil Ganderbal is a known asthmatic. He has faced recurring episodes of respiratory distress, requiring hospitalization on several occasions. Recently, he was admitted to SKIMS Soura and has now been discharged.

However, his condition still requires continuous artificial oxygen support. At our centre, we currently have a 5‑litre oxygen concentrator, but his medical need is for a 10‑litre oxygen concentrator, which we do not have available.

We humbly request that if anyone has a 10‑litre oxygen concentrator and is willing to lend it, kindly inbox us or contact us directly at 9419901605.

Your assistance will make a critical difference in safeguarding the health of this respected elder. We would be deeply obliged for your generosity.
