Taxi WagonR bearing registration number SK 01 T 4084, en route to Siliguri, met with a head-on collision with an SNT passenger bus (SK 01 B 0497) at Sevoke along NH10 on Wednesday. The bus was travelling towards Gangtok at the time of the accident.

The WagonR driver reportedly sustained serious injuries, while the bus driver and a few passengers were also injured in the mishap.

President Droupadi Murmu Begins Three-Day Official Visit to Sikkim Today

President of India Droupadi Murmu will begin her official three-day visit to Sikkim from today, with several important programmes scheduled in and around Gangtok.

According to sources, on the first day of her visit, the President will visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. She is also expected to visit the Orchidarium and flag off special Pink Buses for women in Gangtok as part of initiatives aimed at strengthening women-friendly public transport services.

On the second day, President Murmu will attend the convocation ceremony of Sikkim University.

On the third and final day of her visit, the President is scheduled to participate in a programme organised by the Sikkim Police at Paljor Stadium.

Security arrangements across Gangtok have been heightened ahead of the President’s visit.
