Week (Aug 1–7) Breastfeeding is often seen as a purely emotional and instinctive act — a beautiful bond between mother and baby. But beneath this loving moment lies a series of complex biomechanical demands on a mother’s body.
From awkward feeding postures to neck, shoulder, or back strain, from poor latch issues linked to muscle tension to post-C-section discomfort, a mother’s physical body works hard in ways we often overlook.
This is where physiotherapy and rehabilitation step in — not just to address pain, but to support posture, build endurance, improve alignment, and provide ergonomic strategies for more comfortable nursing.
Rehab professionals can:
• Guide new mothers on optimal feeding positions
• Treat and prevent musculoskeletal pain
• Support core and pelvic floor recovery
• Help manage repetitive strain injuries from baby-carrying and feeding
Because when a mother is physically supported, she can focus on what matters most — nurturing her baby with love and ease.
