Given the increased incidence of crisis events, along with prevailing challenges of a highly fractured and competitive world, developing resilience to maintain our mental health and positive functionality is no longer an optional choice, it is essential.

Let us create an environment of support and development, and go beyond merely ticking policy boxes, when it comes to mental health. Resilience development programs are crucial for individuals, organisations, and society to remain functional and grow right.

On World Mental Health Day, we encourage you to take initiative and call out for assistance in mental health support and development of resilience capabilities for all. Start early and be proactive, do not wait for the crisis to be at the doorstep to recognize the need to act.

The progress made on phasing out of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODSs), with 98% phasing out over 40 years, shows how global cooperation can work to achieve goals in the area of environment protection. It is noteworthy to see how a threat that transcends class segmentation, unifies everyone and brings about change. Yet, other areas where perhaps it is felt that the wealthier classes can disproportionately secure their interests and well-being, there is no consensus and focused action.

While we celebrate and continue to commit efforts to protect the ozone, let us also reflect and build awareness of the lack of concern for those who are unequally harmed due to climate inaction. It is time to get people to recognize the perils and organise for the safety and the well-being of general and vulnerable populations, and call out these double standards on the climate crisis.

We need to learn more, do more, and be more, to rise up to the challenge. Are you going to be counted on the right side of this?
