Hills people applauded MLA Ronghang's speech on the Motion of Thanks to Governor's address, regarding Autonomous State issue
In his maiden assembly speech, MLA Dr. Tuliram Ronghang strongly renewed the long-standing demand for implementing Article 244(A) of the Constitution. This provision allows for creating an Autonomous State within Assam for the hill districts of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong, and Dima Hasao
Hills people of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao Autonomous District reacted on the voice raised in Assam Legislative Assembly today by the newly elected MLA Mr Tuliram Ronghang regarding implementation of Article 244(A) of the Constitution of India creating Autonomous State comprising Hills Autonomous Districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao Autonomous District. Invaluable speech of MLA Ronghang has been lauded by the hills people of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao District soon after being viral in social media. MLA Ronghang was speaking on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s address in the session.
The longstanding issue has been followed by appreciable speech on the legitimate demand delivered by MP Amar Singh Tisu in the Parliament. Before this, former MP Horensing Bey also raised issue in the Parliament. Further, Former ASDC MP Dr Jayanta Rongpi frequently stormed the Parliament with raising Autonomous State. Furthermore, former ASDC MLA Holiram Terang along with his then MLA colleagues likewise Babu Rongpi, Monsing Rongpi, Chandrakant Terang and Jagatsing Ingti accompanied by former MLA Samarjit Haflongbar from the erstwhile North Cachar Hills now Dima Hasao infrequently raised the Autonomous State issue in the Assembly. Even the Autonomous State Demand Committee had captured the power of Karbi Anglong utonomous Council and North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council in the name of achieving Autonomous State and adopted the resolutions pertaining to creation of Autonomous State under the Article 244(A) of the Indian Constitution covering the erstwhile North Cachar Hills now Dima Hasao Autonomous District. Moreover, former MP (RS) Prakant Warisa placed the issue in the upper House of Parliament the Rajya Sabha.
In view of the above, it may suggest that the certain issue has so far been raised by the sufficient numbers of democratically elected representatives either in the Parliament and the Assembly both from Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao Hills District. Therefore, the present BJP led NDA Government both in the state and the centre should have a political will to resolve the legitimate demand of Hills people of Assam creating Autonomous State (State within the State).
Simultaneously, Ex-MLA and ex-CEM Samarjit Haflongbar appealed to unitedly stand on implementing Article 244(A) creating Autonomous State covering the only Hills Districts of the State keeping aside the all political differences in the region.
In this regards, Former MLA Haflongbar extends his heartfelt thanks to MLA Tuliram Ronghang for raising the long-pending constitutional demand in order to create an Autonomous State under Article 244(A) of the Constitution of India during his speech on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s Address in the Assam Legislative Assembly.
Mr Haflongbar maintained that the demand for implementation of Article 244(A) for Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao has been the collective aspiration of the hills people for decades. It is a constitutional provision designed to safeguard the identity, rights, and development of the hill tribes of Assam, he added.
Terming it crucial moment, he sincerely appeals to all MLAs elected from the hill districts of Assam for coming above the political lines and unite in raising this legitimate demand on the floor of the House. A united voice from the elected representatives will definitely carry the weight the people deserve, he suggested.
The people of the hill districts stand firmly behind all elected representatives, Haflongbar encouraged adding that all look forward to collective leadership of people elected representatives in pursuing the matter with urgency and determination until the goal enshrined in Article 244(A) is achieved.
Senior leader Samarjit Haflongbar suggests to honour the historic mandate given to the BJP party by the people and work unitedly towards the fulfilling long - cherished aspiration of the hill people through Constitutional, Democratic and peaceful means.
Dima Hasao Post (North Cachar) completed its 20-Year service
Haflong, May 25: Dima Hasao Post, the erstwhile 'North Cachar' has, this day, completed its 20 Years service especially to Hills people of Dima Hasao Autonomous District and Autonomous Hills districts of Assam along with North-east region in general. In the present situation of digital era, it is needless to mention the ongoing position of print media. Although it's been in effort to keeping pace with growing social media.
Since it came into being on May 25 of 2006 that began with '0' zero like some other newspaper publication followed by installation of its own Offset Printing Press at Haflong in the year 2012, under PMEGA provided by DI&CC. North Cachar now Dima Hasao Post so far could at least provide a small platform to some local educated unemployed youths to practice and have some skills some required in their daily life. Ofcourse, it has some extend helped them in their next careers. This Dima Hasao Post with its offset press also prints other local newspaper such as Haflong news and others. Besides, several important books and booklets including various souvenirs of different social organisations so far printed through this offset.
On this occassion of its 20-Year completion on May 25, publisher of Dima Hasao Post extends hertfelt congratulations to the staff and well-wishers without cooperation of whom it was quite impossible to reach this position.
