NEEL SALAM TO THE VICTORIOUS WORKERS
Babasaheb said "Lost rights are never regained by appeals to the conscience of the usurpers, but by relentless struggle." The unwavering resilience shown by hundereds of contract workers of HCU over 6 days has yielded result on 5'h July 2026 by conclusion of talks between Labour Commission, UoH administration and the workers. Students, teachers and other regular employees have stood with the protesting workers all along.
For far too long, the contract and outsourcing systems have functioned as modern mechanisms of exploitation, disproportionately burdening our Dalit, Adivasi and Bahujan men and women. This victory is a re-assertion of human dignity and social justice and an inspiration to contract workers in other academic spaces across the country. This HCU land which saw the Rohith Vemula Movement, shall also send a signal to entire country by this workers victory again.

ASA REMEMBERS THE STARTING OF ANTI-CASTE NEWSPAPER “SAMATA" BY BABA SAHEB
On 29th June,1928 Babasaheb began the newspaper “Samata", which means equality in English, as a platform where Dalit and marginalised communities could vocalize themselves. As in other realms of lile, Babasaheb ensured the spread of print and press culture as part of public sphere, where voices that are oppressed, discriminated and exploited could express themselves through the values of free-speech. On this day, we remember the commencement of this revolutionary newspaper, along with every other effort by Babasaheb to carry forward the non-brahminical and egalitatrian caravan through freedom of press and speech.
