An Interactive Session for the Class XII SSP students was successfully conducted on 10th July, 2026 at Herbert School, Imphal. The primary objective of the session was to acquaint students with the Academic Calendar for the current academic session, the schedule of the Allen Test Series, and effective strategies for maintaining a balanced approach towards achieving success in the School Examinations, Allen Tests, Council Final Examination, and ultimately the NEET (UG) / JEE examinations.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Sir K. Hemanta, Academic Coordinator, who outlined the purpose and significance of the session. He emphasized the importance of systematic planning, disciplined preparation, and active participation in every academic activity throughout the session.
The first keynote presentation was delivered by Sir I. Boboy, Head of the Biology Department, who provided a comprehensive overview of the Academic Calendar covering the period from June 2026 to April 2027. He explained the month-wise schedule of School Examinations, Allen Test Series, Pre-Council Examination, Council Examination, and NEET (UG), enabling students to clearly understand the academic roadmap for the year.
This was followed by an insightful address from Sir Th. Dhanachandra, Head of the Physics Department, who spoke on the importance of maintaining a balanced approach to studies. He encouraged students to effectively integrate classroom learning, NEET/JEE MCQ practice, and Board examination writing skills through proper planning and efficient time management. He stressed that consistency and discipline are the keys to success in competitive as well as board examinations.
Next, Sir H. Dhaneshwar, Head of the Mathematics Department, reminded students about the month-wise schedule of School Examinations and the Allen Test Series. He also highlighted the important timelines for the registration of JEE (Main), along with the schedules of both Session I and Session II examinations, as well as NEET (UG), advising students to remain well-informed and prepared for every milestone.
The session continued with an informative talk by Sir Kh. Dhiren, Head of the Chemistry Department, who emphasized the importance of reviewing performance after every test. He encouraged students to identify their weak areas, analyse mistakes, and work systematically towards improvement. He reminded the students that every mistake should be treated as a valuable learning opportunity that contributes to continuous progress. He also shared practical strategies for managing academic pressure and stress while maintaining a positive mindset.
In his concluding remarks, Sir K. Tiken, Principal, inspired the students by stating that every test conducted by the school is carefully designed to assess their academic progress and prepare them for the ultimate goal of success in NEET-UG/JEE 2027. He emphasized that the school examinations and Allen Tests are not separate challenges but stepping stones towards achieving excellence in competitive examinations. He urged the students to utilise every assessment to identify weaknesses, strengthen concepts, and build confidence.

The *first School Assembly of Red House* for the academic session 2026-27 was held today, the 9th July 2026 in the school Auditorium.
The assembly commenced with a well-coordinated move led by the *Parade Commander, Thoudangamba Waikhom* . The programme was gracefully anchored by *Chitravana Tongbram* , who conducted the proceedings with confidence and poise. The *Thought of the Day* was presented by *Mayanglambam Alyvia* , whose inspiring message encouraged everyone to begin the day with a positive outlook. The audience was then updated on important national and international events through the *News Reading by Ahongsangbam Veronika* , who delivered the news clearly and confidently.
Marking the significance of the upcoming *World Population Day (11th July)* , *Rajluxmi Meisnam* delivered an informative speech highlighting the challenges posed by rapid population growth and the need to balance it for a better future.
In his concluding remarks, the *Principal* shared some important information and appreciated all the participants for their excellent performance, confidence, and teamwork.
The assembly concluded on a positive note showcasing the confidence, discipline and communication skills of the students.

A Career Orientation Programme on "Mathematical Thinking and Career Opportunities in Mathematics" for Class XII students was conducted successfully on 6th July, 2026 at Herbert School, Imphal. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the wide range of career opportunities available in Mathematics and related fields, and promote logical reasoning and analytical problem-solving skills through mathematical thinking. The resource person for the programme was Professor Shanta Laishram, a distinguished Mathematician currently serving in the Theoretical Statistics and Mathematics Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi. The programme commenced with a brief introduction to Professor Shanta Laishram, followed by a welcome address in the presence of the Principal, teachers, and students. In his address, Professor Shanta highlighted the significance of Mathematics in everyday life and emphasized that Mathematics teaches us to think logically and make rational decisions. Through interactive demonstrations, he showed students how mathematical thinking can be applied to solve complex real-life problems. He also explained how students can prepare for a career as a mathematician. According to him, the two most important qualities required are patience and a willingness to learn continuously. He spoke about various reputed institutions offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Mathematics and allied disciplines. Professor Shanta further elaborated on the diverse career opportunities available to Mathematics graduates. He explained that they can pursue rewarding careers in fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Information Technology (IT), pharmaceuticals, chemical and gas industries, financial services, and research laboratories of multinational companies. He also shared his inspiring academic journey with the students. He began his schooling at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Thoubal District, completed his B.Sc (Honors) in Mathematics from D.M. College of Science, Imphal, and was later admitted to the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) as a Research Scholar for his Ph.D. programme in Mathematics. Through his personal experiences, he encouraged students to pursue their goals with dedication, perseverance, and a passion for learning. The students attended the programme attentively and participated with great enthusiasm. The interactive session inspired them to explore Mathematics as a promising academic discipline and career option. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Professor Shanta Laishram for his enlightening and motivating session.

World Environment Day was observed with enthusiasm and true spirit at Herbert School, Changangei, Imphal on 5th June, 2026.
As part of the observance, a special talk programme on the topic “Ecosystem Restoration for a Sustainable Environment” was organised in the school auditorium in the gracious presence of the resource person, Dr. Th. Binoy Singh, Professor, Department of Zoology, Manipur University, along with the Principal, staff, and students of the school.
The programme commenced with a welcome and keynote address by Kh. Hemanta, Academic Coordinator. In his address, he highlighted the significance of observing World Environment Day and emphasized the shared responsibility of every individual in safeguarding the Earth. He also spoke about the theme of this year’s World Environment Day - “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future” and encouraged students to develop environmental consciousness and actively participate in promoting environmental conservation and sustainability.
The resource person, Professor Th. Binoy Singh, delivered an informative lecture on Restoration Ecology. He elaborated on environmental conditions experienced by us classifying them into two phases — Pre - Industrialisation and Post - Industrialisation. He further explained the methods of rehabilitation and restoring damaged ecosystems and discussed the basic steps involved in ecological restoration, such as identifying the causes of degradation, reducing or eliminating degrading factors, reintroduction of species where necessary, protecting ecosystems from further degradation, and monitoring restoration efforts.
In his concluding remarks, he highlighted the fundamental reasons for ecological restoration - preservation of native biodiversity, maintenance and improvement of sustainable economic productivity, and protection and enhancement of flow of our eco system goods and services that provide benefit us.
The students participated in the programme with enthusiasm and keen interest, attentively listening to the talks delivered during the session.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks extended to the distinguished resource person, staff, and students for making the event successful.
Alongside the talk programme, a tree plantation drive was also undertaken by the Eco Club of the school within the school premises in observance of World Environment Day. The Principal, Academic Coordinators, teachers of the Biology Department, and student members of the Eco Club actively participated in the plantation drive.
