Entrance test for MA Economics postponed
The entrance test of MA Economics 1st sem admission of MU Economics Department which was scheduled on 12th Aug has been postponed until normalcy returns in the University campus, according to statement issued by prof L Tombi Singh, HOD Economics.

Myanmarese Students, faculty on a 15-day Exposure Program
16 November 2013:Fifteen MBA students and two faculty members of the Monywa Institute of Economics, arrived in Imphal on Friday for a 15-day management training at the Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), Manipur University from November 15 to 30. The first time any university in the north eastern region has conducted such exchange programme with foreign students.
The Myanmarese students and teachers were accorded a warm welcome by Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, Prof H Nandakumar Sharma in a function which was also attended by Registrar of MU, Prof N Lokendra Singh; Co-ordinator of International Affairs and Relations, MU, Dr L Jibon; Professor and Chief Co-ordinator of EDC Cell, MU, Dr Ch Ibohal Meitei and Deans of various departments.
Apprising the visiting Myanmarese students that six students from Surindra Rajabhat University, Thailand are presently pursuing PhD courses in Manipur University in different streams, the Vice-Chancellor said Manipur University is continuing to build a strong bond of relationship with Surindra Rajabhat University. Like this, Manipur University also wants strengthen its relationship with the Universities of Myanmar, he added.
Prof N Lokendra told the visiting students that Manipur University is among the 40 Central Universities in India established by the act of Parliament and is under the preview of the Department of Higher Education in the Union Human Resource Development Ministry.
“Manipur University being fully funded by the Centre has extremely low educational fees compared to other universities. The educational, accommodation, fooding, medical, sport, arts and culture facilities etc. are provided by the University and two seats are also reserved for Myanmar students in 17 departments in the School of Humanities and School of Social Science. The students will be fully exempted from tuition fees and they will be exempted from appearing in the admission test, Professor Lokendra said and appealed the team to take advantage of such opportunity provided by Manipur University especially for the Myanmar students.
Speaking to the media about the visit of the team from Myanmar for an educational exposure, Prof H Nandakumar stated that during the recent visit of the Chief Minister of Manipur to Monywa City of Sagaing Region of Myanmar in May 2013 to attend the ‘Regional Investment and Business Conclave’ held at Monywa, discussions were held between faculty members of Manipur University with the faculty members of Monywa Institute of Economics to promote co-operation in higher educational sector between Manipur and Sagaing State through exchange of students, faculty members between the institutes. The Consulate General of India, Mandalay plans to send a group of 17 members (15 MBA students and 2 faculty members) from the Monywa Institute of Economics for a two week study-training course at MIMS, Manipur University from November 15-30. As a follow up, Manipur University has agreed to provide two week exposure training to a batch of 15 MBA students from Monywa Institute of Economics at MIMS.
Besides academic sessions, the team will visit Loktak Lake; Sendra and INA Memorial, Moirang; Women’s Market; Shilheipung/Andro Shija Hospital and Research Institute; Babina Diagnostics and Thangjam Agro Industries. The team will also attend the Inaugural Program of Sangai Tourism Festival and International Polo Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung.
Co-ordinator of the Educational Exposure Program, Dr Ch Ibohal stated the educational exposure will provide an opportunity to the students of Manipur University and Monywa Institute of Economics to have an interaction, share their ideas, knowledge and exchange their views among themselves.
