Property worth Rs 40 lakh destroyed by inferno

IMPHAL: A massive fire broke out at National Games Village Zone IV, in Langol of Imphal west district in the wee hours on Thursday at around 1:30 am. Eight shops including a pharmacy were destroyed in the inferno. Luckily there was no human casualty and district fire tenders that rushed to the spot within a short time after the fire broke out managed to douse the flames.

President of Langol Pioneers’ Club (LPC), Bihari Singh told media persons that the fire possibly broke out from an electric circuit. He said that at least eight shops suffered the rage of the fire and the total loss of Rs 40 lakhs worth of properties was estimated.

The razed shops were reported as a pharmacy owned by Raju Bhurtel, 3-grocery shops owned by B.Brajamani Sharma, L.Rajkumar Singh and Th Ingocha Singh, one computer centre belonging to Ningthoujam Robi, one hardware store owned by H Keshokjit Singh, one resident cm godown owners’ of Rajen Bhatarai and one beauty parlor cm variety store owned by T. Gunadhor Singh.
