Q. Could you share some details about your past projects?

In almost all job interviews for operations management roles, this "daunting" question has always troubled the candidates. It leaves candidates perplexed about where to start answering from, what to include, and most importantly, what not to include!

We iron out this worry once and for all.

All they are assessing is how crisply and concisely can you talk about your projects and internships. The technical details are secondary. It sounds counter-intuitive, yet this is how it is.

We suggest our all-time favorite “Inverse Pyramid Rule”, according to which you should first talk about the company where you have carried out the project. Next, mention a one-liner about your team, and in the end, communicate your exact role and contributions.

Here’s the breakdown:

First, about the project company.

“I was engaged with Credit Suisse, a Swiss firm in Asset Management and Wealth Management Sector, currently valued at USD 23 Billion.”

Then, about the project team.

“I was a part of the Securities Financial Transaction Team, which dealt with Collateral Damage Control across assets worth USD 12.7 Billion.”

Then, about your role.

“I was personally responsible for Leverage Ratio and Fraud Detection, my personal contribution helped saved my client around USD 3 Million.”
