Terrorists Attack in Kathua Village Leaves One Dead, Two Injured
Jammu, June 11: In a tragic continuation of violence, a terrorist attack in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir resulted in one person killed and two others injured, just two days after nine people were killed in a similar attack in the Raesi district. The incident took place in Saida village, near the International Border.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh, who represents Udhampur in Parliament, posted updates on X, stating, "I am in continuous online contact with DC Sh Rakesh Minhas in the wake of a terrorist attack on a house in village Saida in Hiranagar sector close to the International Border. I am also in touch with SSP Kathua Sh Anayat Ali Choudhary who is on the spot."
He further added, "The owner of the house that was attacked is also in touch on mobile phone. Joint police & para military operation is going on. One terrorist neutralised so far. I and my office are in constant touch and keeping a close watch on the development."
Following the attack, security forces launched a joint operation, resulting in the death of one terrorist. This swift response aimed to prevent further escalation and ensure the safety of residents in the area.
This incident marks the second terrorist attack in Jammu within three days. On Sunday, a bus carrying pilgrims to the Shiv Khori cave temple was attacked, leading to nine fatalities and 33 injuries. The bus plunged into a gorge after terrorists opened fire. Security officials suspect the attack was orchestrated by Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Hamza.
These attacks have raised serious concerns among security forces and the establishment, as they occurred in areas previously considered free of terrorism. Intelligence reports had indicated that Jammu was becoming a target for terrorist activities, heightening the alertness and response measures of security agencies.
