A Nepali Thali is a traditional and wholesome meal of Nepal, beautifully served on a large plate with several small portions of different dishes. The heart of the meal is Dal Bhat—steamed rice served with lentil soup. Around it are a variety of flavorful sides such as tarkari (seasonal vegetable curry), achar (spicy pickle), saag (leafy greens), papad, and sometimes curd or meat curry.
What makes a Nepali thali special is its balance of taste and nutrition—spicy, tangy, savory, and fresh flavors all together on one plate.
