A video shows a judge ordering a lawyer to be taken into police custody for 24 hours, but the order was later withdrawn. Judges usually do not like being interrupted while dictating orders, yet such a harsh reaction is not appropriate, especially towards a junior lawyer who was respectfully speaking. The Bar and the Bench have mutual duties and should treat each other with respect. Judges must maintain dignity in their conduct without being rude or impatient, and they should not expect blind obedience from lawyers. Even when correcting a lawyer, it should be done in a calm and dignified manner. In this case, that sense of dignity appears to be missing.

๐จ๐ปโโ๏ธIn the Supreme Court of India, Kapil Sibal argued that criticizing the government does not make someone anti-national while defending activist Sonam Wangchuk.

๐จ๐ปโโ๏ธโ๏ธIn the ongoing Sonam Wangchuk case, the hearing before the Supreme Court took a dramatic turn as the bench of Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice P. B. Varale fixed 10th March for final hearing - making it clear that the matter will be concluded that day.
Appearing for the Union was Tushar Mehta, while Kapil Sibal represented Sonam Wangchuk. When adjournment was raised again, Justice Kumar firmly stated that the Bench will also examine the five CDs on record before the final hearing.
Now all eyes are on March 10. Will the Court uphold a key policy decision? Or will strong observations reshape the debate? The countdown has begun.
