Professor Saurabh Ghosh (Sauda) Memorial Lecture was concluded on January 20, 2024. It was split into two parts, the first lecture was on December 9, 2023, and it was given by Dr. Soumya Swaminathan. The last two lectures were on January 20, 2024, by Dr. Viswanathan Mohan and Dr. Rajiv Bahl.
Dr. Soumya Swaminathan is an Indian pediatrician and clinical scientist known for her research on tuberculosis and HIV. From 2019 to 2022, she served as the chief scientist at the World Health Organization under the leadership of Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Previously, from October 2017 to March 2019, she was the Deputy Director General of Programmes (DDP) at the World Health Organization.
Dr. V. Mohan, Padma Shri (2012) is an Indian physician/scientist specializing in diabetology. He is the Chairman of Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre, which is an IDF Centre of Excellence in Diabetes Care. He is also the Chairman of the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation in Chennai which is an ICMR Centre for Advanced Research on Diabetes.
Dr. Rajiv Bahl is an Indian pediatrician and public health researcher known for his research on maternal and child health research and health policy. He was the Head of Research on Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health at the World Health Organization (WHO) from 2013 to 2022 and is currently the Director-General of the Indian Council of Medical Research.
