Sixty-based number system (sexagesimal system) and its use The Babylonians counted based on 60, which is called the sixties-based system. This system is still used today to divide time (hours, minutes, and seconds) and angles (degrees, minutes, and seconds). Time: An hour is 60 minutes, and a minute is 60 seconds.
