I didn't know anyone in courtrooms. As I was a First Generation Lawyer in my Family.

If you're a first-generation lawyer trying to find your footing, here are five things I've learned along the way:

1. Keep your health a priority:

This isn't a one-day run. It's a long game. You need your mind and body to show up fully.

2. Stop worrying about who you don't know,

Start focusing on what you're building.
You're not behind.
You're building differently.

3. Carry your file like it belongs in your hands: You don't have to feel ready. You just have to walk in.

4. You don't have to be loud to be taken seriously,

Clarity, grace and good work will get you further than noise ever will.

5. Don't do this alone:

Look out for other first-gen lawyers. If the path feels lonely, you're probably building one that matters.

We didn't come here to blend in.

We came here to build something better .......

If you've learned something important in your own legal journey

or

if you're facing something no one talks about; feel free to drop it below.
