The Tooth Solution

A cavity (also called tooth decay or dental caries) is a hole or damaged area in a tooth caused by bacteria.

Here’s how it happens:

Food (especially sugary/sticky foods) stays on teeth.
Bacteria in the mouth feed on it and make acids.
These acids slowly wear away the tooth enamel.
Over time, a hole forms — that is a cavity.

Signs of a cavity can include:

Toothache
Sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweets
Pain while biting
Black, brown, or white spots on a tooth
A visible hole or pit

If untreated, a cavity can get deeper and reach the nerve, causing severe pain or infection.

Prevention:
Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste
Floss daily
Limit sugary snacks/drinks
Regular dental checkups
