Thoughts 💠🤔
🤔Non-polluted river vs textile polluted river?
🤔Farm made or factory made?
🤔Man made or mill made?
🤔Hand-weaved or machine weaved?
🤔Back to nature or landfill?
ðŸ’Textile production is estimated to be responsible for about 20% of global clean water pollution from dyeing and finishing products. In India, around 70% of untreated industrial waste, including from textile factories finds its way into our water bodies.
ðŸ’Forests and farms are converting into factory farms exacerbates deforestation and water scarcity, and is responsible for methane and nitrous oxide pollution that is detrimental to the planet.
ðŸ’Polyester and other synthetic fibres such as nylon are major contributors of microplastic pollution in the environment.
ðŸ’Power looms reduced demand for skilled handweavers and gradually losing traditional crafts and identity of communities. Powerloom drastically increased the speed of textile production.
ðŸ’Of the 100 billion garments produced each year, 92 million tonnes end up in landfills.
