As a safety measure and as an Initiative against the recent Manipal r**e case, The Police Department of Mangalore, Udupi and Western Range launches " Travel Safe Registry " today on Kannada Rajyothsava, with the guidance of the IG, the Sp's and with the technical help of Incede Technologies.

Each Auto driver will be verified and provided an Authorized badge with his personal details, an Unique ID, Emergency numbers and SMS service for Help. This is to be made compulsory from Jan 2014 and all Auto drivers without this badge will be fined. This portable badge is to be displayed behind the driver seat, visible to the passengers. Eventually this will be implemented in more areas and for other types of cab services too.
