Hashtac Kinder

6 months back, when I started planning for our Annual day, my biggest challenge was how to make this better than last year's. Last year we build a futuristic Hashtac City and took our kids and parents to a world of wonder.

And this year, I wanted it to be more experiencial and more deep into a topic. Me being a history lover decided to travel for inspiration for my annual day.

I know schools have a particular pattern when it comes to Annual days and it was a big NO for me. What's been followed for years, is to be ditched this time!

When all our well wishers asked if we are planning even bigger space theme, I decided to go back to history. I started with a trio to the majestic Rajasthan where I got to learn about the culture, the Rajputs, the Mughals and what not. I also visited the Mughle Azam Show in Mumbai for more ideas (but the ideas I already had in hand was exactly the same as the show - so nothing much I got from there)

Coming back to school and sharing my vision with my team was the next challenge and as usual, they all immediately gave me a Lets do this nod!

I wanted this to be a theatrical show - a movie like feel, an experience for anyone who entered the hall. We worked day and night tirelessly for the next few months bringing this vision to life.

There are times when I was stuck and blank as I didn't have anyone to refer to. That's what original ideas does to you.

Everytime I hear a music, I save it. Everytime I script our storyline, I think about the real history of India. Everytime I mix music or dub voice or create the movie, I see the stage filled with cultural beauty. And every second of every day has been a journey of crafting a piece of art we called with love as - Kahawat.

The day I saw our kids owning the stage as the kids of our kingdom called Khayalgarh, I couldn't believe my eyes. I stood there in awe. I saw history in front of me. I saw Rajasthan in front of me.

I also saw parents eyes widen in shock. I saw tears flowing from my mentors. I saw the pride in every family member and I saw how everyone got stuck in time not able to process what they saw.

that's when I realized, I was right as an educator!
