എം. എസ്. സ്വാമിനാഥൻ ഗവേഷണ നിലയത്തിൽ 'ശാസ്ത്ര സമീക്ഷ' ശാസ്ത്ര ക്യാമ്പ് സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു.

കൽപ്പറ്റ: പുത്തൂർവയൽ എം. എസ്. സ്വാമിനാഥൻ ഗവേഷണ നിലയത്തിൽ കേരള ശാസ്ത്ര സാങ്കേതിക പരിസ്ഥിതി കൗൺസിലിന്റെ പിന്തുണയോടെ ഹൈസ്കൂൾ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്കായി അഞ്ചുദിവസത്തെ 'ശാസ്ത്ര സമീക്ഷ' ശാസ്ത്ര ക്യാമ്പ് സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു.
ശാസ്ത്രം, കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനം, ജൈവവൈവിധ്യം, ഈ രംഗത്തെ പുതിയ തൊഴിലവസരങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയെക്കുറിച്ച് വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളിൽ അവബോധം വളർത്തുക എന്നതായിരുന്നു പരിപാടിയുടെ ലക്ഷ്യം. ജില്ലയിലെ വിവിധ സ്കൂളുകളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള അൻപതോളം ഹൈസ്കൂൾ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ അഞ്ചുദിവസത്തെ ക്യാമ്പിൽ പങ്കാളികളായി.
ശാസ്ത്രത്തെ ദൈനംദിന ജീവിതവുമായി ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന തരത്തിലുള്ള പ്രായോഗിക പരിശീലനങ്ങൾ, വിദഗ്ദ്ധരുമായുള്ള സംവാദങ്ങൾ, ചർച്ചകൾ എന്നിവ ക്യാമ്പിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി നടന്നു. 'ശാസ്ത്രവും പ്രകൃതിയും', 'കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനവും അതിന്റെ ആഘാതങ്ങളും', 'പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിലെ ജൈവവൈവിധ്യം', 'സൂക്ഷ്മജീവികളും കൂണുകളും', കരിയർ ഗൈഡൻസ്' തുടങ്ങി വിവിധ വിഷയങ്ങളിലാണ് ക്ലാസുകൾ നടന്നത്.
എൻ. ഐ. ടി കാലിക്കറ്റ് , എസ്. സി. ഇ. ആർ. ടി, ഹ്യൂം സെന്റർ തുടങ്ങി വിവിധ ഗവേഷണ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലെ വിദഗ്ദ്ധരും എം. എസ്. സ്വാമിനാഥൻ ഗവേഷണ നിലയത്തിലെ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞരും സെഷനുകൾക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകി. കേവലം ക്ലാസ് മുറി പഠനത്തിനപ്പുറം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളിൽ പങ്കാളിത്ത പഠനരീതി വളർത്താൻ സഹായിക്കുന്ന രീതിയിൽ ഉള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ ക്യാമ്പിനെ ആകർഷകമാക്കി.
അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ജൈവവൈവിധ്യ ദിനമായ മെയ് 22-ന് പ്രശസ്ത പരിസ്ഥിതി പ്രവർത്തകനും പശ്ചിമഘട്ട ഗവേഷകനുമായ പ്രൊഫ. ഇ. കുഞ്ഞികൃഷ്ണന്റെ സെഷനോടെ ക്യാമ്പ് സമാപിച്ചു . എം. എസ്. സ്വാമിനാഥൻ ഗവേഷണ നിലയം ഡയറക്ടർ ഡോ. നീരജ് ജോഷി സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റുകൾ വിതരണം ചെയ്തു . ഡോ അർച്ചന ഭട്ട്, ആയിഷ കെ. പി, ഏഞ്ചൽ എബ്രഹാം എന്നിവർ നേതൃത്വം നൽകി.

The Community Agrobiodiversity Centre of M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), Wayanad, organised a five-day science orientation programme titled Saasthra Sameeksha from May 18 to 22, with the support of Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE). The program brought together high school students from various schools of Wayanad for interactive sessions and activities on science, climate change, biodiversity, and emerging career opportunities.
The programme focused on connecting science with everyday life through hands-on activities, expert talks, discussions and practical learning. Sessions covered topics including science connecting to nature, climate change and its impact, biodiversity of the Western Ghats, microbes and mushrooms, and STREAM-based career guidance. Experts from academic institutions and organisations such as NIT Calicut, SCERT, Hume Centre and MSSRF staff led the sessions. Activities including biodiversity walks and bingo, carbon footprint and foodprint exercises, lab visits and mushroom production and science games encouraged participatory learning among students. The program concluded on the International Day for Biological Diversity on May 22nd with an informative and interesting session by Prof Kunhikrishnan, a renowned Environmentalist and researcher of the Western Ghats.
The KSCSTE-supported initiative aimed to nurture scientific temper, environmental awareness, and critical thinking among students through locally relevant and activity-based science education.

MSSRF Community Agrobiodiversity Centre and ICAR-CTCRI Sign MoU for Collaborative Research and Development in Tubers & Community outreach

M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) and ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, marking an important step towards strengthening collaborative research, innovation and community-centered initiatives for sustainable tuber farming system.

The partnership aims to foster joint efforts in areas such as conservation, sustainable farming practices, value addition, capacity building and technology dissemination for the benefit of farming communities.

Dr. G. Byju, Director, ICAR-CTCRI, Dr. R Rengalakshmi, Executive Director, MSSRF, Dr. Niraj U Joshi, Area Director, MSSRF CAbC, Dr. C. Thamban, Senior Fellow, MSSRF and faculty members from MSSRF and ICAR-CTCRI were also present during the occasion.

The MoU reflects a shared commitment to advancing resilient and inclusive agricultural development through research, outreach and knowledge exchange.

കിഴങ്ങുവർഗ്ഗ വിളകളുടെ ഗവേഷണങ്ങൾക്കും കർഷക ശാക്തീകരണത്തിനുമായി എം.എസ്. സ്വാമിനാഥൻ റിസർച്ച് ഫൗണ്ടേഷനും (MSSRF) ഐ.സി.എ.ആർ.-കേന്ദ്ര കിഴങ്ങുവിള ഗവേഷണ സ്ഥാപനവും (ICAR-CTCRI) തമ്മിൽ ധാരണാപത്രം ഒപ്പുവെച്ചു.

കിഴങ്ങുവർഗ്ഗ വിളകളുടെ സംരക്ഷണം, സുസ്ഥിര കൃഷിരീതികൾ, മൂല്യവർദ്ധിത ഉൽപ്പന്ന നിർമ്മാണം, സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യാ വ്യാപനം എന്നിവയിലൂടെ കർഷകരുടെ ഉന്നമനം ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ടാണ് ഈ സംയുക്ത പങ്കാളിത്തം.

Multi-Stakeholder Workshop on Kole Wetlands: A local Agrobiodiversity Heritage System Successfully Conducted ✨🌾

The Community Agrobiodiversity Centre of M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) in collaboration with the Kerala State Biodiversity Board, College of Climate Change and Environmental Science, Kerala Agricultural University, and Kole Birders’ Collective, successfully organized the Multi-Stakeholder Workshop on Kole Paddy: Local Agrobiodiversity Heritage System of Kerala on 8th May 2026 at Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur 🌾

The event highlighted the ongoing documentation efforts undertaken by MSSRF, including literature review, field visits, interviews, stakeholder consultations, and community engagement initiatives over the past year 🌾

The workshop brought together farmers, researchers, biodiversity experts, citizen scientists, government departments, local self-governments, grassroots organizations, and conservation practitioners to discuss the ecological, agricultural, cultural, and livelihood significance of the Kole wetlands and the way forward for recognizing Kole Wetlands as a local Agrobiodiversity heritage site🌾

A heartfelt thanks to all participants, collaborators, farmers, experts, and institutions who contributed their valuable insights and experiences towards envisioning a sustainable future for the Kole wetlands 💚
