Anthropic just released Claude Fable 5, its most capable, widely released model built for the most demanding reasoning and long-horizon agentic work.

We aren't just talking about a standard chat interface anymore. Fable 5 is built for true long-horizon autonomy. It can work independently for days at a time, plan across stages, delegate to sub-agents, and check its own work.

- 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Fable 5 handles complex tasks that previous models could not sustain, executing coding and knowledge work tasks for extended periods without intervention.

- 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀: Because the core model is so powerful, Anthropic had to split the release. Fable 5 is the public version. The unrestricted version, Mythos 5, is locked down for trusted users in sensitive areas like cybersecurity, drug discovery, and molecular biology.

- 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗳𝗳𝘀: Older models just threw rigid error messages. If Fable 5 encounters harmful prompts related to restricted domains like cybersecurity or biology, it falls back to receive a safe response from the Opus 4.8 model instead.
