Can better nutrition training reduce malnutrition in India?

We were proud to participate in MHIAPSMIPHACON 2026 (6-7 February, Mumbai) as part of the GS Medical College & KEM Hospital, Mumbai Centenary Year Celebrations.

The conference was organised by the Department of Community Medicine, Seth GSMC & KEM Hospital under the theme "Universal Health Care: Bridging Gaps in Urban & Rural Health. "

At the event, we presented our Health Spoken Tutorial vertical with one clear goal:

If healthcare professionals are trained in practical nutrition skills, India's burden of malnutrition can be reduced.

Through our stall, we shared:

- Skill-based Health & Nutrition tutorials covering maternal, infant, young child, adolescent and pre-pregnancy nutrition
- Practical training in complementary feeding and growth monitoring
- Expert-developed content to support families and communities
- Courses available in multiple Indian and tribal languages
- Modules designed for low-resource settings with online and offline access

We had meaningful discussions with medical educators and public health professionals. There is clear interest in practical. easy-to-use nutrition education.

We remain committed to strengthening healthcare capacity through structured nutrition training.

Because improving nutrition competence is essential to reducing malnutrition!

If you are from a medical or paramedical college and want to give your students practical nutrition skills, we'd love to hear from you! Reach out to us at [email protected]

EduPyramids recently completed the training of over 150 Navodaya school teachers in association with Educational Outreach, IIT Bombay.

The programme was conducted in three batches:

17 Batch 1: Nov 25, 2025 to Nov 28, 2025
17Batch 2: Dec 31, 2025 to Jan 3, 2026
17 Batch 3: Jan 21, 2026 to Jan 24, 2026

The programme was designed to help school teachers:

- Learn Free and Open Source Software (FOSS)
- Use Al tools in education
- Adopt new teaching methods aligned with NEP 2020
- Build socio-emotional skills such as empathy, collaboration, and introspection

Each session followed a hands-on, learn-by-doing approach using the Spoken Tutorials platform. This is an IEEE-recognised self-learning pedagogy developed at IIT Bombay. Teachers actively practiced, engaged in guided activities, and worked on simple classroom-ready assignments.

A special strength of this programme is its multiplier impact. Teachers can now use the same Spoken Tutorials to train their students and fellow teachers. This enables learning to scale organically and sustainably.

We are deeply grateful to Prof. Kannan Moudgalya for his vision. He created the Spoken Tutorial pedagogy which continues to strengthen technology-enabled education across the country.

Special thanks to Prof. Ramkumar Rajendran for coordinating the workshop. We also express sincere gratitude to Prof. Usha Ananthakumar (Dean, Educational Outreach, IIT Bombay) and Mr. Ajey Mehta (CEO, Educational Outreach) for envisioning and supporting this programme.

A special shout-out goes to Dnyaneshwari Joshi for coordinating the entire programme so seamlessly.

This is how sustainable educational transformation is built. It happens through collaboration, systems, and purpose-driven learning.
