Design Highlight | Jaali Facade
Rhapsody of Light, Bengaluru, Karnataka
The defining feature of Rhapsody of Light is its climate-responsive jaali facade, designed as a breathing architectural skin rather than a decorative screen. Composed of horizontal steel members and vertical hand-tinted concrete fins, it filters harsh western sunlight, improves ventilation, and protects the interiors from direct views without sacrificing openness. The layered facade softens heat, frames changing daylight, and creates a dynamic play of light and shadow across the home. It transforms privacy into an active design element while giving the residence its distinctive architectural identity.

Rhapsody of Light, Bengaluru, Karnataka
Rather than resisting its urban setting, Rhapsody of Light embraces it with restraint and precision. The film traces a home where filtered light, layered volumes, and crafted materials work together to create an atmosphere of quiet openness. From the breathing facade to the skylit courtyard, each space reveals a different quality of light, allowing the architecture to shift in character throughout the day. It is a story of how design turns the constraints of a compact Bengaluru site into moments of comfort, clarity, and delight.

After the incredible response to 10 Homes Bengaluru, we're excited to introduce the next chapter in the Buildofy Books series.
50 Homes India, curated by the visionary, Ar. Verendra Wakhloo (Verendra Wakhloo) of Matra Architects (Matra Architects).
In this conversation, Veren reflects on the homes that will come to define Indian architecture, chosen not just for spectacle, but for the ideas they stand for.
Homes that age with grace. Homes that belong to their context, and point towards a more thoughtful future.
