Here's a little more about our tradition in the Catholic community:
The 15th of August not only marks the day of our Country's Independence but gives us another reason to celebrate as the date coincides with Feast of The Assumption of Our Lady, celebrations of which are in complete without a sweet delicacy called ‘𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐨’.
This fragrant dish is made from a moist, succulent mixture of coconut and jaggery neatly stuffed into a rice pancake, which is wrapped and steam-cooked in fresh turmeric leaves.

The scent of the turmeric leaves, along with the aroma of the coconut and jaggery is surely an indication that the day is here.
