Thai archaeologists have uncovered two ancient gold rings, estimated to be around 1,900–2,100 years old, at the Don Yai Thong archaeological site in Phetchaburi province. One of the rings bears an inscription in the ancient Brahmi script, while the other is a simple gold band.
Found alongside human remains, the discovery suggests possible links to an ancient Indian merchant community. The findings offer important evidence of the deep trade and cultural connections that existed between ancient India and Thailand nearly 2,000 years ago.
The site has also revealed skeletons, pottery and other valuable artefacts, providing new insights into life and cross-cultural exchanges in the region.
